Feeling lonely? Apply now...

Just got this from George...

Win a date with Sandralicious

That's right, i'm following Triple Period's lead in advertising for a date. Our reasons are probably the same, and seeing to how he got actual applicants, i'm giving this thing a try. Who knows, i might strike gold.

Now i know people may laugh at the idea of advertising for a date, or call it a publicity stunt. It is neither. I've always been rather cynical about dating, yet i know i cannot remain so. Thus, i hereby propose the following dinner date package with the selected applicant:

---

Venue: A condominium at Upper Bukit Timah

- Homecooked candelight dinner by the pool.
- 4-course meal (menu to be discussed with successful applicant)
- Drinks. Alcoholic or not? You decide ;)
- Long (and hopefully fruitful) chat
- Night Swim
- Bring your own swim gear. Towels will be provided. :)
- Swimming is forbidden after 10pm, but hey, let's break some rules. *grin*

---

Terms and conditions apply:

(Ripped from tripleperiod and modified )

- Only single eligible heterosexual men need apply
- Applicants must be age 20 and above at the time of application.
- Should the winner be found to be attached/married at the time of the date, all-expense-paid clause will be null and void. Date will be Dutch. he will get a kick in the balls from me.

To Apply:

- Kindly attach photo of yourself (no studio shots pls)
- A short introduction of yourself (Occupation, fave food, hopes, dreams, worst fears, dream destination etc etc)
- An essay of not more than 1000 words on the topic "Why You Should Date Me"
- Indicate your blog url, if any (yes, bloggers do gain cookie points too)
- Closing date : 11 June 2005, 0000 hours.

Do apply if you think you're right for me. :)

Something to say? =) E-mail: simplysandra@gmail.com

Start cracking, you lonely hearts you! George has verified that this to be true and here's the lady's blog URL with her pictures. Chekkit! Have fun, go "prepared" *ahem* and may the Force be with you...

Everyone loves a good bitching...

Was reading through Ginette's LiveJournal. This post was pretty funny but what tickled me balls was the comments that followed through.

fergoodnessake. can't people here finally see that the word "Outlook" does not mean "Appearance". c'mon!!! I went to a friend's music forum and some random said "hey cool webby, nice outlook." GOD-DAMMIT!!! and "webby" wtf is webby?!

I once saw an ad for a motorbike that said "good outlook". yeah i'm sure yr bike has a positive outlook on life.

Apparently, that's the Aging Youth Productions forum... which I myself don't visit. Hahaha...

Too much information, too long a wait...

The movie will kick off June 16. Here's a link to more pictures from the upcoming 'Batman Begins'.

This year is just full of bad titles and stupid dialogues...

Just read The Tears' recently updated site.

(The Tears’ debut album) was produced by Bernard (Butler) and largely recorded at home. For him making this record as he wanted to make it was a huge part of a long healing process. “When all that [being in and leaving Suede] happens to you when you’re 22/23, you don’t deal with it,” he says. “I hated everyone and everything, and felt confused all the time. I couldn’t see through the things I wanted to do.”

I feel relieved that he's the man behind the console. Will the new album be 'Dog Man Star' part 2? Actually, I'll be rather offended if it sounds too close to 'Dog Man Star'. It's done 11 years (It's been that long! Sigh...) ago. Though I seriously doubt Brett Anderson and Bernard Butler will craft anything new, we can all hope for miracles. If not, we can "bring it back" to McAlmont & Butler which I thought fucken rocks!

This re-established partnership with Brett Anderson does seem to me as a regression for Bernard Butler. I mean, there were hardly any wah guitars on the Suede albums he played on. In the McAlmont & Butler outfit, he cut loose and brought out the soul and funk within. Fucken ace!

Well, it's all cool. Here's the tracklisting:

01. Refugees
02. Autograph
03. Co-Star
04. Imperfection
05. The Ghost Of You
06. Two Creatures
07. Lovers
08. Fallen Idol
09. Brave New Century
10. Beautiful Pain
11. The Asylum
12. Apollo13
13. Love As Strong As Death

After naming your best album 'Dog Man Star', you thought you will have good sense to carry on with that streak of great album titles. However, the debut album (to be released on 6 June) is just fucken called 'Here Comes The Tears'.

Man, Brett and Bernard, "you are breaking my heart!!!!"

I had shitloads of time during Jan and Feb this year...

Lemme know what you guys think. I know the tagline is a bit 'atas' but hey, I wasn't born a copywriter! Probably, I will have tweaked that line though. Any copywriters out there? Help me out...

Freaky moment of the day

Was going to work on Tuesday. I was walking behind this lady around 20 metres outside the office building.

Suddenly, she just jumped to her right, whirling to her left and stared at this spot on the wall. She squinted at the spot. I could see that she was trying to observe something. Then she started mumbling to herself as if she was chastising someone.

I walked by her and checked the exact same spot she was staring at. I looked at her and she glanced back intently. She changed her focus on the same spot, muttering to herself again. I just passed and climbed up the stairs.

Fuck, it was way too early for that kinda shit to happen.

Soooo cute...

Stole this off Billy's blog.

Trailer to the National Geographic movie, March Of The Penguins. Gotta love those cute furry chicks! Yeshhh, real ones.

When Star Wars became really bad...

The exact scene which totally destroyed my impression of Darth Vader as a bad-ass muthafucka here.

Seriously... How can the guy with the coolest helmet ever stoop to depths this low? I dunno man... I dunno.

Memoirs of A Monster...

Amazingly, Billy's blog is still alive. He posted a link to Darth Vader's blog.

What surprised me was that the 'Heart-breaker' had time to blog, despite his busy schedule of hunting down Rebel scums and looking for a green little furball. Hell, does the 'Nooooo....' man even get off-days from his employer, Palpatine? Someone gotta bring this up to the Ministry of Manpower...

In other things, I've been just been hit on the head by Billy with the musical baton, so here goes...

Total volume of music files on my computer:
My old PC HD crashed along with my 8GB+ of mp3s and 2GB+ of mpegs. It still hurts... so let' not go there.

The last CDs I bought were:
Nine Inch Nails - With Teeth

The Mars Volta - Frances The Mute

M83 - Before The Dawn Heals Us

Song playing right now:
I ain't listening to anything at da moment.

Five songs I listen to a lot recently
1. MUON - Outside Looking In
2. Herbie Hancock - Fat Mama
3. M83 - Don't Let The Flames Burn Us
4. The Love Experiment - High School Girls (Hey, I know it's shameless to put your own band here. I'm checking on how I can further improve the instrumentation of the tune. We just got a glockenspiel and we are not afraid to use it!)
5. 44ofjuly (featuring Dan of Documentary In Amber) - How About This? (Yeah, 2 of my mates did this track... Highly interesting. Swirling dark sounds and all. Good stuff.)

The Island...

Usually, I avoid Michael Bay's movies like SARS. But 'The Island' seems to be interesting for a sci-fi concept and it stars 2 of my favourite actors in the business. The following picture shows Ewan McGregor who bears a strange resemblance to Ben Affleck (all caked in mud) and Scarlett Johansson who looks like a Tara Reid who doesn't need a boob job (some folks are just blessed in life).

Black... is still black...

I can't fucken wait...

GDMFSOB...

My head is still turning, thanks to Marvin who piled the burbon on me last night. It was a fun night though the crowd wasn't as strong as the first. However, the bulk of the crowd stayed throughout the night which was good.

I'm gonna watch 'Episode 3' later which is like 2 days before you mere mortals... Ha! Told you I'd brag about this... You'll probably hear this from me for like, the next 2 months! Thanks, Sujin!

Countdown??

My friend said she just watched the preview of Star Wars Episode 3: The Revenge Of The Sith last night. Of course, she had to brag lah. If I were her, I would too!

Anyway, she was raving that it was excellent. Seriously, I'm not holding too much hope for that...

Space Sessions

Our friends are playing tonight at Bar None. The bands which will be playing are unique indeed, ranging from bone-crushing Mogwai-like post-rockers I Am David Sparkle to the atmospheric, trancey The Death Of Cinema to the electronica-tinged Phorous. Good stuff.

Guess who's bitching...

Bumped into Billy and Aaron after their RT tonight. Had a drink with them and regaled them what happened just 30 minutes before I met them.

I was smoking while listening to my Discman, walking to collect a cheque while I was stopped. This very decent looking guy just approached me and shoved a flyer at me. He asked if I were free to attend his Bible study group on Thursday. Well, it pretty amazed me that he had a flyer just to promote that. Politely, I declined, saying that I had something on. He then flipped the flyer over and inquired my availability on the Thursday 2 weeks down. Needless to say I was busy too.

The highly interesting thing was that on the flyer with a clip art of a cute lil boy on it read: "Join us for an evening of Bible studies, followed by childhood games." It was the "childhood games" part which scared the shit outta me. What the fuck?!

If there were any childhood games I'll engage in at the moment, that'll probably be re-enacting out scenes from Star Wars with these ultra-cool mofos.

Check out what the hell they do here. Damn fun.

Anyway, I passed the flyer to Aaron. With all his incessant bitching, he probably needs some good cheer in his life, like playing some childhood games...

Guess who's the door bitch?

Less is more... but more is still more. Queries have been targeted towards musicians by both musicians and non-musicians: “Why do you need so many effect pedals? All you need is maybe 2 or 3 but 12?!” Well, finally, here at the snug and friendly Substation Gallery, pedal dealers from Singapore are here to show you why. The Art Of Gear Stomping is a showcase of different guitar pedal effects and the sounds they make, featuring brands such as Catalinbread, Z-Vex, George Dennis, MoogerFooger, Line 6, Visual Sound and Fulltone to name a few. Brought to you by the following dealers, City Music Pte. Ltd., MrMisse Electronics, WakeMeUpMusic, Fierce Design, Empty71 and JM Guitars, this inaugural event will showcase pedal modders and used gear.

Also for the very first time in Singapore, a clinic by our very own local musicians, Daniel Sasson (Electrico), Wendy Phua (Zhen), Linda Ong (Lunarin), Fuzz (Phorous and IF), Seng Woei Yuan (The Love Experiment), Muhammad Alkhatib (Astreal) and Nicholas Chan (MUON, The Death of Cinema and Astreal). These musicians will be displaying their effects and will show us why and how they incorporate the use of guitar effects in their music.

The convention takes place on Saturday 21 May 2005 from 1400hr to 2000hr at The Substation Gallery. Tickets is SGD2 per entry. TAGS is a collaboration by PLATFORM and MISSE Electronics and supported by Aging Youth Productions and the SUBSTATION. Crazy night...

Great night out at the Monday Sessions last night. It was damn fun. Got high and danced like an idiot to Force Vomit which dished out Pink Floyd's 'Another Brick In The Wall (Part 2)' with Rizman Putra of Tiramisu rapping L.L.Cool J's 'Cool Like That' over the tune!!! Fucken funny!!! The rest of the membersss who were there had heaps of fun...

Managed to get Linda "I don't exercise so I don't dance' Ong from Lunarin to do the mash potato. And Kah Wye was smashed. So that's pretty hilarious.

B-Quartet dropped 2 Radiohead covers this time round which Johann happened to be there piffed at. Anyways, I thought their cover of 'Paranoid Android' was great... They played it note-for-note with the vocal samples and all. But the killer cover was 'Idiotque'. Fucken amazing doesn't even begin to describe it. Everyone was blown away.

Got home at almost 4am after supper. It's insane... and it's only the 1st day of a 5-day working week!!! Too much to take. No more next week!

Star Wars Episode 3 music video

John Williams' score is great. The video editing looks good... But will the movie suck? Highly likely to. We have 18 days left to find out...

Check out the video here. Includes scenes from Episode 3.
